Blog # 8 Google Hangouts

When I was looking through different technology tools I found Google Hangouts. I will admit that one reason I chose this tool was because it didn't sound so foreign or as difficult as some of the others(I was still hesitant on learning new technology). The more I started learning about it, the more I really liked it. It has a lot to offer, you can send messages, photos, emoji, and use it for video calls. Google Hangouts can be used anywhere and whats nice about it is that it is all synced. Meaning, if you start a conversation on one device it will be linked to another device too so you can pick up right where you left off. As I said before in a previous blog, one of the main attractions to this tool is that its not made for one particular device. With Google Hangouts you can use an android, i phone, i pad, i pod, computer, laptop, Gmail, and Google +. Everyone can connect with one another and not have to have just an i phone in order to do so. The video conferencing allows up to ten people and even if you are in the middle of a conversation, someone can always join in. This technology tool has many different features that are very helpful so that people can stay connected whether it is personal or professional.

  1. Tiffanie, I can relate with you on how this tool did not sound so foreign as some of the other tools name sound. I can also relate on this tool on Hangouts, because I am doing my Technology tool on Google+ and I found this very cool, because when you get the Google App education account you can mingle with 1 to 15 more on a Hangout. I like how you stated that when you have a Google account all the Google tools are synced because it is true you can pick right up on your conversation on one device and to be able to link it to another device. Thanks for you writing on Hangout I look forward to read more.

  2. Thayne,
I read your blog on Google+ yesterday. It was very informative and I like how you included Google Hangouts. If the tool is related to Google its really nice that they are all linked together. The one question I have is where did you find that Google Hangouts can have up to 15 people? Everywhere I looked it only said 10.

  3. Google Hangouts sounds like the Swiss army knife of communicating on online. I have heard of Google Hangouts but have never used it or done any research on using it. When you said you are able to send emails is it compatible with existing email systems like Hotmail and yahoo or is it just for google accounts? I know you have probably not used the 10 person video chat but have you seen a tutorial that uses this, I’m quite interested in how you can view 10 people at once. Is there an option to purchase an upgraded version where it adds more perks?

  4. There is a tutorial on the video chat with ten people. I will try and find it and post it on my wiki. In order to have a hangout account you have to be set up through google.
